    Did You Know?

Using CadSHARE you can quickly and easily implement version controls on all your AutoCAD Drawing files stored in your SharePoint repository.

    How?

CadSHARE is a plugin tool for AutoCAD and allows you to store, retrieve, update and manage all your organisations AutoCAD Drawing Files in your SharePoint repository.

In AutoCAD once your Drawing file has been Checked Out of SharePoint, you can edit the Drawing, making all the changes that you need.

Once you have finished updating the Drawing, you should then Check In the Drawing to save the copy back into SharePoint, for others to view and access.

Before you Check In the Drawing, you should enter a Version Type and add Version Comments.

You can either Check In the Drawing by:

    • Assigning it as a Minor Version – which will add a bullet point version e.g. 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc…
    • Assigning it as a Major Version – will incrementally change the version to the next number e.g. 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 etc…
    • Or simply overwrite the current Minor version that you are working on

These versions can then be retrieved at any time and re-opened or deleted, using the CadSHARE Versions tool.

Once you have chosen the Version Type and entered the Version Comments, press OK to Check In the Drawing into SharePoint.

The Drawing will be Checked back into SharePoint and saved in its new state. Once Checked In to SharePoint you can now select the three dots to choose the Version History option.

This is where we can see that CadSHARE has auto updated the Comments in the Version History and the Version Number.

CadSHARE is therefore the perfect plugin to enable you to manage all your AutoCAD Drawing file versions.
