Selection Preview in AutoCAD

By default, when selecting objects in the drawing using any of the various selection methods, the selected items are highlighted as shown in Figure 1.

However, sometimes the selected items do not highlight as shown in Figure 2.

This may be a little confusing since nothing appears to be selected, however this can easily be righted.

Open up the “Options” dialogue box and select the “Selection” tab as shown in Figure 3.

In the “Preview” section in the lower right of the dialogue in the “Selection Preview” section, there are two check boxes, “When a Command is Active” and “When no Command is Active”, as shown in Figure 4.

The default is to have both boxes checked, so selected objects are highlighted both before the command is selected and once the command is active.

This solves the problem.
