User defined properties (UDPs) need to be associated with an object type (i.e. file, item) in order to be used by that specific object.

However, associating a UDP with files will not automatically list it in the “User defined” property panel. If the property is linked to a specific category, it will appear in the property panel whenever a new file is added to Vault in that category.

As an example, the “Voltage” UDP is associated with files in the Engineering category. This means that all new files in this specific category will automatically list “Voltage” in the property panel.

If all associations are set correctly, there is no need to manually add properties via Actions -> Add or remove property.

To access the associations list:

Tools -> Administration -> Vault settings -> Behaviours tab -> Properties -> locate the UDP -> Edit
