How do I change the colour of the screen background in Revit?

Answer:

This can be done via the display tab in the options dialogue. Select the desired component and then choose an appropriate colour.

Many users seem to prefer a dark background, if so it will be necessary to review colour settings of selected objects, alerts, object styles and filter settings within views to ensure highlighted objects are clearly visible.
