Why doesn’t my symbol show in a Revit plan view?

Q. Why doesn’t my MEP symbol component display in a plan view, when placing a faced based Revit MEP family?

A. To ensure the mechanical, piping or electrical symbol shows in a plan view, ensure that the maintain annotation orientation property is ticked. The MEP symbol element of the family should now display as expected.
