    Question:

Can you Pan and Zoom the Map when in the Print Layout in QGIS?

    Answer:

    Yes ! 😊

Once you have added the Map Frame to the Print Layout Canvas.

…..simply click on the MOVE ITEM CONTENT button to activate the tool.

Now in the Map Frame you can hold the left mouse button and drag/pan the map.

And push the mouse wheel forward to zoom into the map.

In addition, once you have chosen the Map Frame, in the right panel choose ITEM PROPERTIES and you will have some extra buttons that allow you to:

    • Set Map Extent to Match the Main Map Canvas
    • View Current Map Extent in the Map Canvas
    • Set the Map Scale to Match the Main Map Canvas
    • Set the Main Map Canvas to Match the Current Map Scale

e.g. here is setting the Map Extent to Match the Map Canvas. The Map Frame in the Print Layout now zooms back out to match the Main Map view.

And if we now zoom in within the Layout (Map Extent)…

…we can choose the View Current Map Extent in Map Canvas and it will apply the zoom change from the Print Layout to the Main Map window in QGIS.
