With the introduction of AutoCAD 2021, the “Quick Measure” command has now been expanded to include “Area”.
Prior to AutoCAD 2021 using “Quick Measure” command and moving the “Orange Cross Hairs” over objects in the drawing, displays “Line Lengths”, “Angles between Lines”, and “Circle radii”, as shown in Figure 1.
For more information on the “Quick Measure” command, follow the link to my previous blog, https://www.cadlinecommunity.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/360002481457-AutoCAD-2020-Quick-Measure.
To display the “Area”, using “Quick Measure”, left click inside the closed shape, the “Area” is displayed in green, along with the values for “Area” and “Perimeter” as per Figure 2.
Both the highlighted “Area” and the “Text” are temporary, if the cursor is moved both will disappear.
The “Boundary” can comprise of “Lines”, “Arcs” and “Polylines”, but must be a “Closed” shape.
Holding down the “Shift” key and left clicking inside other closed shapes will give a combine “Area” value.
However, using this command in a large drawing may take time to display the information, currently it is best to use this feature with simple shapes.
