MapThat – Excel Loader: Not Allowing Upload

Question:

When I click the Create New button in the Excel Loader tool, the tool goes blank – why is this?

Answer:

The Create New tool in the Excel Loader allows you to upload a new EXCEL file.

However if the tool opens and is blank…..

The reason is likely because the Excel Loader cannot find an ICON to use for the output features.

The ICONS which are available within the Excel Loader are determined by the VE_IMAGES table as shown in the MapThat Admin Forms > Images/Icons page.

If there are no ICONS that have a tick against - Use in Excel Import - the Excel Loader tool won’t be able to generate the tool correctly and so shows a blank pane when you press the Create New button.

To resolve this, simply tick any number of Icons/Images  to define that the images can be Used In Excel Import. Below we have ticked the PURPLE and ORANGE icons.

Save the above Admin Form changes, re-open MapThat and choose to Create New in the Excel Loader. The tool will now load as expected allowing you to choose the ICON for the uploaded features.
