Staggering a Section view in Revit

I am often asked this question during training courses on whether Revit can do this. This is a very simple task to achieve.

Simply select the section line and access the split segment tool orthogonally moving parts of the section cut line to include or exclude objects from being shown in the section view.

Drag the handles of the clipping extents if necessary, to control the section view extents. Note the door opening being revealed on the section view. On the example image below:

To revert to a straight section line simply pull the staggered part of line back in line with the original reference. The section view now no longer shows the opening on the wall section.

NB. This staggering of line function can also be applied to elevation views.
