When looking through various performance guides for AutoCAD, you may come across the system variable WHIPTHREAD. This controls whether to use an additional processor to improve the speed of certain operations such as those that regenerate the drawing. This is a very simple tip to improve performance and can be done just by entering it into the command line:
For AutoCAD 2019 and previous versions, the default setting is 1 out of the box and it is recommended to set this to 3 for best performance:
2019 WHIPTHREAD (System Variable)
For AutoCAD 2020 this has now changed. The default setting of 1, is now best for performance:
2020 WHIPTHREAD (System Variable)
So this no longer needs to be changed.
