In certain situations, a PDF is needed for additional lifecycle states aside from the “Released” one.

In Vault 2020, the PDF creation and update can be triggered when transitioning to any lifecycle state.

In the example below, I have created a lifecycle with states ranging from A to C2. This was set as default for both the Engineering and Design representation categories.

I then added the “update PDF “action when transitioning from State B to State C and from State B2 to State C2:

In order to have the PDF sync the revision from the file as well, the same revision scheme was assigned as default for both categories.

Note: The “Sync Lifecycle State and Revision” option (Tools -> Administration -> Vault Settings -> Configure PDF Publish Options) must be turned on for the PDF to have the same state and revision as the file.
