Here is a great feature improvement which allows you to drag and drop layers into the processing tools.
Drag and Drop Layers
In the video below we use the Select by Location processing tool to identify the School Points that are geographically inside one of the LSOA boundaries in Liverpool.
In QGIS 3.8 you can now simply drag and drop a layer from the Layers panel into the Select Features From and Compare Features From layer options.
This works for all Processing tools where you will need to select one or many layers, and will therefore save lots of time scrolling through a long list of layers in large projects.
