When placing a drawing view in Inventor using the default views (Front, Top, Bottom, Left, Right and Back), if the Origin planes of the model are matched to the XYZ of the drawing the General Dimension Type used by that view is defaulted to “Projected” - but what if a part is slanted in all these views ?

The Right view of this pipe runs assembly shows the green pipe is slightly slanted. When dimensioning, the projected value of the length will be displayed.

Looking at the model, the real pipe length has a different value.

By changing the General Dimension type of the view to “True” ( right-click on the appropriate view -> "General Dimension Type" -> “True”), the dimension will reflect the true pipe length.
