Question:
How can I add Ordnance Survey (OS) StreetView basemapping into my desktop or webGIS?
Answer:
If you utilise GeoServer you can publish the OS StreetView raster tiles as your own Web Map Service (WMS). However, if you haven’t got access to GeoServer there is a resource available which is already publishing the data for you.
https://qms.nextgis.com/geoservices/896/
* Please note that while this Service is still currently available, it hasn’t been updated since 2017.
On the web page is also the Tile Map Service URL which can be used within a desktop GIS, e.g. QGIS.
http://os.openstreetmap.org/sv/{z}/{x}/{y}.png
You can add the OS StreetView tile service manually using the Add XYZ Tiles option in QGIS.
Or
If you have already installed the QuickMapServices Plugin, then choose Search QMS and a panel will open allowing you to ADD the OS OpenData StreetView web map tiles.
Adding the OS StreetView into a webGIS is also possible. For example here are the settings required to add the basemap into MapThat:
Once you have added the new basemap and chosen to expose it within a Project, the OS StreetView layer is now available as a basemap within MapThat.
