The new Locator Bar introduced with QGIS version 3 allows you search for your favourite tools e.g. the buffer tool.

Did you know in the latest release of QGIS using an ‘f’ before a word allows you to use the Locator Bar to FIND features in your active layer?

For example, with my Schools layer activated, if I type ‘f grantham’ QGIS will search for the word Grantham within my Schools layer. In fact the find is a wildcard so you can start typing a word and all likely candidates are returned, showing the field in brackets () that the value is found within – in this case the Town or Street field.

By then simply selecting the record (double left click) within the Locator Bar, the map will re-centre and show that record in the map centre.
