Cymap 2019 is just around the corner and offers several substantial changes and improvements including full compliance with the new IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

One notable improvement will be the move away from dongles in favour of cloud licensing. We have tried to answer any questions you may have regarding cloud licensing below:

    What is Cadline Cloud?

Cymap is moving away from dongles in favour of cloud-based (non-hardware) licensing, and Cadline Cloud is our new platform that will make it possible.

As well as facilitating licensing, Cadline Cloud will also allow you to download the current version of Cymap, alongside older versions of the product. Ancillary applications such as Cylink will also be made available.

Some supporting material that was once bundled with Cymap will now only be available through Cadline Cloud.

How will I receive Cymap 2019?

Cymap 2019 will be made available digitally for download.

We currently have a Cymap Network Licence/Dongle, what will change?

Your Cymap Network Licence will be ported to a new Cadline Cloud multi-user licence. The number of seats available for allocation will be the same as you are currently licensed for. You will no longer, however, be restricted to running Cymap on your intranet and will be able to run your software on any machine that has an internet connection.

We currently have a Cymap Stand-alone Licence(s)/Dongle(s), what will change?

Your Cymap Stand-alone licence(s) will be upgraded to a new Cadline Cloud multi-user licence. The number of seats available for allocation will be the same as the number of dongles you are licensed for. Previously, to use a license on multiple machines would require physically transferring the dongle. Now, however, you will simply be able to terminate Cymap on a machine, thus freeing up the licence, before utilising that same licence on a different machine.

How will Stand-alone (Single User) licences work?

A single-user licence will restrict the use of Cymap to a specific machine. If you need to transfer the licence to a new machine, you will need to contact Cadline Customer Support.

How do we set up our Cloud Account for use with Cymap 2019?

Contract Managers will receive an email inviting them to download the latest software and create a Team Leader account within Cadline Cloud. Once complete, the Team Leader will be able to invite any number of team members to join. Having joined, team members will then be able to login to Cymap 2019 with their user names and password. The number of licences you have will dictate the number of concurrent users working on Cymap 2019 at any one time.

I need to keep a licence available at all times for my work, how can this be done?

If you have a multi-user licence, then you can log into Cadline Cloud through your web browser and reserve one of the seats for your account. This seat will be removed from the pool of licences that get allocated on a first come, first served basis.

What happens if I temporarily lose my internet connection, can I keep using Cymap?

Our system is resilient to internet outages and you will be able to continue to use Cymap without interruption during most short-term incidents.

Is there a limit on the number of times I can install Cymap 2019?

There is no restriction on the number of machines that can have Cymap installed. This allows you to utilise the seats from your multi-user licence on any machine in your pool.

Which versions of Cymap are supported by Cadline Cloud Licensing?

Only Cymap 2019 and subsequent versions will be compatible with Cadline Cloud licensing. Versions prior to 2019 will continue to operate as they do currently, using a dongle.

Can I open multiple year versions with the same licence?

Cymap 2019 and subsequent versions can be run with the same licence.

Which versions of Cymap are supported by Cadline Cloud Licensing?

Only Cymap 2019 and subsequent versions will be compatible with Cadline Cloud licensing. Previous versions of Cymap will continue to require the presence of a dongle. You are permitted to continue using these previous versions as long as the number of concurrent users of Cymap at any one time does not exceed the total number of purchased.

The increased flexibility of cloud licensing is the first of many new things to come. As we reengineer Cymap into a dynamic MEP solution we will offer greater functionality and collaborative services.

Look out for further communications throughout 2019.
