Question:
How can I choose the correct Skin Colour for my MapThat Project?
Answer:
The VE_Projects config table allows you to define a colour for the SKIN of your MapThat Project. For example, within TryMapThat we use a purple colour by using the HEX value of #9975b9 within the THEME_COLOUR field.
When applied the MapThat project looks like the below:
In order to choose the correct SKIN Colour for your MapThat Project, you will need to identify the HEX value that matches your chosen colour. You may, for example, wish to use the colour associated to a company logo, but may not know the exact HEX value for that logo. However, using a combination of PAINT and a quick internet search this is very simple.
Step 1 – Open the image that has the colour you wish to use within PAINT and from the Tools Panel select the Colour Picker tool:
Click within the image to choose your colour, then on the Colours Panel click on the Edit Colours button:
Within the Edit Colours tool you will find the values used for the (R)ed, (G)reen and (B)lue – RGB. In this case for pink this is 232,58,117.
Step 2 - You can now open up a website that converts an RGB value into a HEX value e.g. – https://www.rgbtohex.net/
Type the numeric values for Red, Green and Blue and then press Convert to HEX.
Having now found the exact HEX value, you can enter this into the VE_Projects.Theme_Colour field and apply this to your MapThat Project:
