Autodesk Inventor – Removing OLE Links from drawings - revisited

You may have come across the issue where you can’t get rid of embedded links in an Inventor DWG, and therefore can’t check in to Vault.

The method to remove the links with code was covered in this recent blog post.  There is another, quicker method:

Save the file to IDW, which will prompt a warning (see below*)

Save back to DWG

Your OLE links should now be gone.

In the event that doesn’t cure the problem (it should) try using the iLogic solution in the previous article.

*The warning message regarding saving to a different file format refers to AutoCAD data that will be removed from the conversion, namely the AutoCAD Blocks in the Drawing Resources folder.
