Vault 2016 – Revit, BIM, CDE, COBie, PAS-1192 & Design Review

By Kim Hyde

This article is for those of you who are struggling to get to grips with BIM (Building Information Modelling), CDE (Common Data Environment), COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange), BS / PAS 1192 ….and are expected to manage / share the data via a data management solution. I am going to give you an introduction to the advantages of deploying an Autodesk data management solution that supports both BIM and the PAS-1192 environment …

Firstly, the PAS-1192 nomenclature provides guidance for identifying, managing and sharing your data.  Cadline provide a pre-configured environment for Autodesk Vault Professional which supports the 1192 stages for supporting the various progressive states required.

The image below depicts graphically the general areas and stage preconfigured with the Cadline Vault deployment.

Secondly, the Vault Professional data management solution is unique in fully supporting Revit with direct interaction to the database from the design environment.  Vault’s Lifecycle States allow you to manage the PAS-1192 stages as the elements of your design progresses.

Important project and object information recorded in the Revit files can be included in the exported Dwf/Dwfx formats exported as sheet sets are saved in Vault.  The same data can be shared and reviewed for electronic mark-ups via the free-to-use Autodesk Design Review; this process and Vault’s integration with Microsoft Outlook provides a robust audit trail for change management.

Please contact Cadline for more information regarding a data management solution to integrate with your BIM designs.

Happy Vaulting!
