Navisworks 2016 - Switchback Tip

Here’s something I discovered the other day that might save you valuable seconds!

I was always under the impression that to get the Navisworks Switchback tool to update a dwg in Civil 3D* you had to have a version of the drawing already open in both Civil 3D and Navisworks.

But in this case I had an NWD open in Navisworks and a blank drawing open in civil (and had run the NWLOAD command).

From Navisworks I ran the switchback command and my drawing opened in Civil 3D! I know it sounds obvious now but this workflow hadn’t occurred to me before.

*This should work the same for other applications like Revit and Inventor
