There is a bit of a hidden gem in Inventor and that is selection priority.
By default we are only able to select faces and edges in parts, components in assemblies and edges in drawings. This is perfectly acceptable for most operations, but sometimes we want to select something specific in our model or drawing. Selection priority allows us to do this.
