“Galleries” were first introduced to the 2015 range of products and applies to AutoCAD 2015, AutoCAD Architecture 2015, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015, AutoCAD Electrical 2015, AutoCAD LT 2015, AutoCAD MEP 2015, AutoCAD Map 3D 2015, AutoCAD Mechanical 2015, and AutoCAD Plant 3D 2015.

The “Gallery” gives an expanded dialogue box with a scroll bar at the right hand side allowing the user to scroll through, preview and select all items in the current drawing of that category.

From the “Insert” command on either the “Home” or the “Insert” tabs on the ribbon menu all blocks in the current drawing are displayed.

Text, dimension, multi-leader and tables styles can also be previewed via the respective “Galleries”.

In the 2015 range of product these “galleries” could not be turned off, but with the introduction of the 2016 releases, Autodesk have now added a new system variable “GALLERYVIEW” allowing the “Galleries” to be turned off.

Set to ”0” (off) the gallery will display the gallery content as list view as prior to AutoCAD 2015.

Set to “1” (on) the gallery will display the gallery content as thumbnail or pictorial images.
