AutoCAD 2016 - Exclamation marks near dimensions

Exclamation marks by your dimension text - what are they?

The little yellow boxes appear when dimensions lose their associativity. They only appear in the "Model" space - they will not be plotted, nor appear in the "Paper" space.

Here are a few ways of rectifying the problem:

  • The best method would be to reassociate your dimension - click on the exclamation mark and choose Reassociate, then reinsert the dimension.

  • You could turn off the "Annotation Monitor" (The blue plus sign). But the dimensions would still have lost their associativity and could possibly be inaccurate.
