Autodesk Inventor 2016 is packed with tools specifically aimed at 3D printing. Inventor goes further than just just exporting an STL file. The toolset now includes a built in library of the most popular 3D printers, allowing you to place your component in the correct orientation for printing, you can even scale or split your model to build it in several pieces.
Once your model is prepared you can export an STL file for 3D printing, or send it to Autodesk Print Studio (included with Inventor 2016) which will visualise your print and even build in support structures before sending the file directly to a supported 3D printer.
