Question
When I create a new layer for MapThat, should I choose Data Point or Spatial Layer?
Answer
If your layer includes lines or polygons, then your feature geometry will be stored within a GEOM field in your Spatial database and you will need to set the layer type in MapThat as Spatial. If your layer is point data and you have both an X&Y column and a GEOM column then you have the option to either choose Data Point or Spatial. Setting your layer as Data Point type will display your points the quickest. If however your point data doesn’t have an X&Y column but only a GEOM column, then you must set the layer type to be Spatial.
