I had an interesting discussion with a client yesterday about attachments in Autodesk Vault 2015, and I thought it would be a good idea to share how they work on my blog.
Vault is brilliant at managing file links of known Autodesk files, like Revit, Inventor, AutoCAD etc. But sometimes, we may want to add an additional file to the original for reference, maybe we have an email from the client asking for a change, or a specification that we want to keep with the design data.
The best part about this feature, is that you can capture a snapshot in time of the attachment, as well as the host file by releasing the host.
In the video below I show how to add attachments, detach attachments and what happens when files are released and when attachments are removed.
