What are Journal Files?

 

Answer
They are used to capture the actions taken by the Revit software during a session. Revit will create a new Journal (in the form of a text file) each time you use it. The text file is creates can be used to troubleshoot technical problems with the software.

The journal files can be found in the following locations:

Using Windows 7: C:\Users\<Usre.name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2014\Journals

Note: The default Journal folder maybe hidden by windows.
