Question
Can you use one model but have two different drawing views? Example is I have a container drawn but want to use it in two different ways in a drawing, one with the doors open and one with doors shut. Can this be achieved without having two models to place in your drawing?
Answer
The easy answer is Yes! In Inventor you can use ‘Positional Representations’ in the assembly environment. Create the representations and then ‘Override’ the constraints to get the required views. These can then be used when creating your drawing views either individually or as Overlays. Check out my blog entry which shows this in more detail.
