How do I copy a drawing, or create an assembly from a section of a P&ID drawing, within an AutoCAD P&ID project?

Answer
The most reliable way to do this is to use the AutoCAD WBLOCK command to create a new non-project drawing containing the required content.

Then create a new drawing in your target project and insert and explode the non-project drawing.
