As Windows 8 is now shipping with new PCs and is slowly starting to gain in popularity, with a market shareapproaching 5%, I am regularly being asked about the compatibility of AutoCAD Plant 3D and other Autodesk products with Windows 8.
Autodesk state that “Unless noted otherwise in the system requirements for an individual product, Autodesk 2014 products are supported on the Windows 8 operating system.” Unfortunately, some products are supported on the 64-bit version and not the 32-bit version.
So, the only way to confirm compatibility is to check the system requirements of each individual 2014 product release.
Some 2011-2013 releases of Autodesk products are compatible with Windows 8, but since 2010 and earlier versions are no longer supported, Autodesk will not consider them for compatibility.
Full details may be found on the Autodesk AutoCAD Services & Support site.
AutoCAD Plant 3D compatibility with Windows 8
AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014 64-bit is the only version of AutoCAD Plant 3D that is currently supported on Windows 8. The 32-bit version of the 2014 release and all previous versions are not compatible with Windows 8.
