If you’re running AutoCAD and discover that you are unable to change your screen layout and cannot move any docking or floating windows, don’t forget to check that your windows are not locked.
Looking at the status bar at the bottom right of the screen, you should see an open padlock symbol and a tooltip, when you hover the cursor over it, indicating that the window positions are unlocked.
If, on the other hand, you see a closed padlock, then some settings have been locked.
To change the settings, right-click on the symbol to access a menu that will enable you to lock or unlock the positions of your windows and toolbars.
