Plant 3D 2014 – P&ID Valve Object Mapping

When you are setting up a Plant 3D project you very often want to be able to map valves from your P&IDs to specific valves in your 3D Pipe Specs. Doing this enables you to use the P&ID Line List window to pick valves from your P&ID and quickly place them into your 3D model.

The place to configure this is in the P&ID Object Mapping section of Project Setup through the Plant 3D Class Mapping Window.

However, as Plant 3D has a single Valve class, it is not possible to create a direct one-to-one relationship between a P&ID class of valve and its 3D equivalent. So how do you make the link?
