MTEXT Command in AutoCAD

Question

I sometimes find that the box used to enter Mtext content covers the entire screen rather than fit the rectangular area I identified with my initial corner to corner selection box...causing the text area to fill the screen so it isn't a case of WYSIWYG and I don't know how it relates to surrounding objects until I have finished the MTEXT command...Is there a reason for this and how can I stop this from happening?

The variable MTEXTFIXED is sometimes set to a value of 2 by default, which means that text is displayed so it will be readable at any zoom situation rather than at its final position. Set MTEXTFIXED to 0 to display at actual height, actual position.
