Layer Modifier - AutoCAD

With the Offset command I often have to select the newly offset objects and place them onto another layer afterwards. Is there a way I can avoid this extra work?

Answer

The Layer modifier within the Offset command lets you choose between the Current or Source layer, meaning that provided you had previously set the correct layer to be current, you can offset the object and automatically place the new object onto the required layer saving more work afterwards. (Turn this back to Source when it’s not needed, to prevent accidental changing of layers)
