In Revit you can customize the Ribbon by dragging the panels into different positions on the Tab
You can even tear off a panel and place it anywhere on the screen, just like AutoCAD.
Starting from Revit 2013 you could even turn off discipline specific panels.
Now the thing is do you know where the default location for every panel is on each Tab?
Well you don’t have to you can reset the Ribbon and Quick Access toolbar to the default settings. To do this you need to delete the UIState.dat file.
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2013
Note: I am using Windows 7 and Revit 2013, so the location my differ for different versions of Windows and Revit.
Just a note of caution this will remove any tools added to your Quick Access toolbar, so any customizations you have added you will need to add again.
