A great tool in Inventor is the ability to export the profile of a flat face out to DWG or DXF. If you have ever had to design gaskets or had components laser or water jet cut, you will love this tool.
All you need to do is Right Click on the face, and then select “Export face As…” you will then be prompted for a file name, and you have the option to select either a DXF or DWG file format.
The file that is produced is perfect for a laser or water jet machine, however, you may want to look at the Options before you click save, and select an earlier version, depending on the machine that you working with.
One last point to remember, is that you are exporting out a profile that has no link to the original file, so if you make any changes to your model, you will need to repeat the process described above.
