Side by Side Configuration Error

Question

When you try to start the application it shows an error saying "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail." The error message is shown below for reference.

Answer

This error can occur with a wide range of applications due to problems with the Microsoft Windows Operating System.

To resolve this issue:

1.     Open Add/Remove programs and remove the Microsoft Visual C++ components.

2.     Visit Microsoft and download the latest packages for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 and 2008. (For example, Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64))

3.     Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 and 2008 components.
