High resolution images can be useful for export into graphics packages and the application of texture maps for use in 3ds MAX, AutoCAD rendering and Inventor. This can be anything from corporate logos to detailed line work that needs to be applied to 'detail' 3d surfaces in visualisation software. Normal screen capture unfortunately does not deliver enough resolution to get a credible result for detailed rendering work.

AutoCAD has had this reliable image 'export' facility for years, going back to AutoCAD 2000i.Essentially you can ‘plot’ drawings out to any standard raster formats (including BMP, JPG and PNG)

This document should help you to achieve this result and talk you through the process
