Subscription account holders are given access to some really handy tools via the Autodesk Apps Exchange.

In this series I am going to run through these tools and show how to find them, install them, and use them.

In today's blog post, we are going to look at the Mesh Enabler. This tool is brilliant, essentially, it allows users to convert files like STL's into solid or surface models. Without the Mesh Enabler, STL files come into Inventor as mesh entities, which are not really much use to the user. You are unable to draw sketches on Mesh faces, or created 2D drawings of them, they are just graphical representations of geometry. Mesh Enabler will works with Inventor 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The video below shows everything you need to know, to get up and running with the Mesh Enabler.

If you don't see the option for convert to base feature, go to tools add-ins and enable the mesh enabler.
