If you are new to Revit and cannot see a way of accessing Footing Families or Elements for your project, it can be a little frustrating and you may be tempted to create your own family, but there is no need to.

When using Revit make sure your Structure Tab is set above your Ribbon Bar.

If you can’t see the Structure Tab (below), you will need to activate it in your options, it’s an easy process once you know how.

Go to File, then Options.

Once Options are selected, pick User Interface (1) and then just ensure you select Structure Tab (2).

You can now access Properties.

Select Edit Type and the Type Properties open, you just need to Duplicate (1), Rename(2), then make your modifications and create your Footing (3).

You may want to create and save several types in your Revit Template, saving time on future projects.
