The Cadline DynamicMaps team is pleased to announce that the latest version of MapThat Mobile now allows users to save user defined settings to their mobile device.
The Settings menu in MapThat Mobile allows users to choose their own preferences on each mobile device, with categories including:
• Geolocate options
• Measurement Units
• Map Decorations
• Basemap Downloading
• General Settings
For example, if we set the Measurement Units to have a default of:
• Area – Hectares
• Length/Perimeter -Yards
When we use the Measure Distance and Measure Area tools, the system will use the default units in the results pane. MapThat Mobile will also remember these default settings the next time that you use the measure tools within the App.
By toggling off various Map decorations within the Settings…. e.g. Map Coordinates, Map Orientation, Scale Bar, Zoom Buttons etc…
This can remove unwanted tools from the map window. Again, these settings will remain each time you open MapThat Mobile.
You may wish to view your map location using WGS84 – Transverse Mercator coordinates.
Each time you open MapThat Mobile on your device the chosen Map Projection will be re-applied!
Finally, if you are going to download and cache Basemaps for offline working, you can choose your own personal download limits. Here we have set the Maximum Download Size for our device to be 50meg.
… which means if we choose to download a basemap with too many zoom levels or too big an area…
… MapThat Mobile will check our device settings and provide a warning message that we can’t exceed the current download limit. This setting is saved to your device and re-applied each time you open MapThat Mobile.
This update ensures that your users can apply and update their device settings dependent on how they wish to use MapThat Mobile.
