The inaugural Autodesk University London was held at the Tobacco Doc on the 21st and 22nd of June.
 
Cadline were in full attendance, with 3 stands in the exhibition area, as well as 4 speakers covering a range of topics including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Inventor and Fusion360.

Foster + Partners’ Martha Tsigkari and Miles Walker will discuss the impact of computation and innovation on the design and delivery of projects such as Mexico City’s airport. Autodesk’s Mike Haley will give a peek into what’s on the technology horizon, including machine learning, AR/VR and robotics. You’ll leave inspired to embrace this future in your own work.

 

SPEAKERS

CHRIS BRADSHAW

Chris Bradshaw is Senior Vice President of Media & Entertainment, Education Experiences, and Impact at Autodesk. He leads the group responsible for the company’s media & entertainment industry solutions, spanning film, television, games, design animation, VR/AR, and digital arts customers. He also leads the Education, and Sustainability and Foundation (Impact) groups, which empower current and future designers, makers, and creators to imagine, design, and create a better world.
 
 

MIKE HALEY

Mike leads the Machine Intelligence group at Autodesk focused on ground breaking machine learning technologies for the future of making things which includes everything from 3D digital design to how physical creation or assembly occurs.   His team develops the strategies for applying machine learning as well as performing research and development on techniques unique to designing and making.   For the last several years Mike’s team has been focused on bringing geometric shape-analysis and high scale machine-learning techniques to 3D design information with the intent to make software a true partner in the design process.  Formerly, Mike led the move of Autodesk products from the desktop to the cloud by driving the adoption of scalable distributed compute and data technology.   Prior to joining Autodesk, Mike has performed research and product development in the fields of: volumetric graphics, distributed multimedia, computer vision and embedded systems.  He is drawn to areas where he can combine his 25 years of experience in: computer-graphics, distributed systems and mathematical analysis.   Mike holds an MS in Computer Science from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
 
 

MARTHA TSIGKARI

Martha Tsigkari is a Partner and a member of the Applied Research + Development (ARD) group at Foster + Partners. She is a specialist in a wide range of areas including Performance-driven Design and Optimisation, Interfaces & Interaction, Design-to-production and Fast Feedback & Integration. Her work incorporates the development of simulation tools, the introduction of integrated processes and the creation of physical interfaces. She has provided solutions for hundreds of diverse projects such as the new airport for Mexico City, Lusail Iconic Stadium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the new metro stations for Jeddah, UAE’s 2015 Expo Pavilion, the Sheikh Zayed Museum and YachtPlus Boat Fleet. She is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, a tutor at UCL and a juror at AA. She has taught, lectured and published on the subjects of BIM, parametric and algorithmic design internationally.
 
 
 

MILES WALKER

Miles Walker is Head of BIM and Design Systems at Foster + Partners, with experience in the building industry spanning over 35 years.He studied at East London University in the early 90’s and went on to lead BIM at HOK in London and KEO in the Middle East. From 2000 he established an award winning “BIM” approach through early engagement with stakeholders, applying innovative technology workflows to improve coordinated design and project delivery. He has major project experience, this has included St. Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Hospitals PFI project, which won AIA TAP BIM awards in 2005 and 2007. Prior to joining Foster + Partners, he worked at Mace and led BIM for a Data Center campus construction project in the Netherlands.In 2017, he joined Foster + Partners as a Partner to lead the practice in BIM. In this role Miles leads a team of BIM specialists and coordinators who support the Foster + Partners design studios in the delivery of BIM projects and the leadership design technologies.
