A common issue when creating a schedule in Revit, is that the software sometimes does not show the desired room or space for an element. This is because by default Revit uses the family origin as a location point. However, this can be altered by enabling a customisable room location point.
This setting can be found in the family category and parameters dialogue within the family editor in the image shown below:-
Enabling this point will give the family a 'tail' which means that even if the family is outside a room (like an isolating switch) it will still be associated with the intended location rather than its actual position.
A typical scenario of a typical family with the room location point activated and adjusted into a desired location. Revit will now use this point as a room reference rather than the default origin.
