Luke Davenport

Hi I’m Luke Davenport, one of the application engineers at Midas specializing in manufacturing. My role includes customer training, technical support, consultancy and solution/product demonstrations.

I discovered a passion for 3D CAD during my Automotive Engineering degree at Sussex – my fourth year (and summer holidays) were mostly consumed by the CAD design and manufacture of the suspension system for Team Sussex’s 2006 Formula Student entry. Since graduation I’ve broadened my knowledge of manufacturing techniques in a variety of roles including 3 years engine and aerospace component design (using Unigraphics NX, Pro-Engineer and Inventor) and 2 years designing industrial safety equipment for diesel engines in hazardous environments (using Inventor).

One theme that has developed for me is the desire to make CAD designs really efficient – to pre-empt possible design changes and use some of the incredible tools in Inventor (such as iLogic) to firstly expand conceptual abilities, and then make subsequent variations and iterations run like clockwork. There are far too many companies not exploiting these possibilities – designing their assemblies 20 times when only once is required! I’m looking forward to helping you maximise your hard-won design knowledge by putting it to work in advanced yet simple CAD solutions.
