Darren Bentley

Hi, my name is Darren Bentley. I am the Product Manager at EDSL, the developers of the Tas suite of products.

After studying Mathematics at Brunel University, I joined Environmental Design Solutions Limited (EDSL) in 1999, where my first role was technical support analyst. Initially, the job was dealing with customer’s technical and sales queries but as time went on my duties increased to include documentation and training. I both created and ran the training courses and occasionally still do.

In 2002, I was part of the team who wrote a Tas application for Part L2 compliance checking. We modelled all 3 different methods: Elemental, Whole Building and Carbon Emissions Calculations. The latter method became the basis for 2006 and 2010 Part L2 regulations. In 2008, I helped expand the application to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).

Although, no longer directly involved in programming, I am still part of the development team and I have special responsibility for increasing functionality and improving the user interface. Also, due to my experience, I attend various government working group meetings related to Part L2 and EPCs.
